Interview with 2024 AM Maddy Ehrhardt

I had the chance to talk with 2024 Attacking Midfielder and Wilmington College commit Maddy Ehrhardt.

Q: "How long have you been playing soccer, and what positions do you usually play?"

Maddy: "I have been playing soccer for 12 years, and I usually play attacking midfield."

Q: "Can you describe your playing style and strengths on the field?"

Maddy: "I consider myself an offensive minded player, I love making runs and creating opportunities to score goals. Some of my strengths are my speed, physicality and overall knowledge of the game of soccer."

Q: "What do you love most about soccer?"

Maddy: "Building lifelong relationships with my teammates."

Q: "Have you played for any club teams or participated in any tournaments or competitions? If so, which ones and what were your experiences like?"

Maddy: "Yes. I have played for a variety of clubs- including NPL, ECNL and E64. With those clubs, I have traveled all around the country for tournaments and showcases and my experiences have always been positive. The atmosphere around college showcases and the overall level of talent surrounding our teams have always been wonderful and a great challenge. My favorite was ECNL New Jersey in 2022!"

Q: "What are your short-term and long-term goals in soccer?"

Maddy: "Some of my short term goals include improving my strength and conditioning, as well as focusing on injury prevention. My long term goals include being an impact player and helping my college team win titles within my 4 years."

Q: "How do you balance your commitment to soccer with your academic or work responsibilities?"

Maddy: "I like to write everything down at the beginning of each week on a planner. It helps me to see everything in writing, it’s certainly a skill that can take some getting used to! Lots of late nights and early mornings."

Q: "What accomplishment in your soccer career are you most proud of?"

Maddy: "Making varsity as a freshman in high school!"

Q: "What made you choose Wilmington College?"

Maddy: "I really liked the facilities and the program for my major, but the team culture and the coaches really put it over the top for me. They showed support through my whole recruiting process and they made me feel wanted. The team really made me feel at home on my visit and it just felt like home!"

Q: "Do you have any other hobbies or interests outside of soccer?"

Maddy: "I love reading, playing guitar and going to concerts! I also lifeguard at my local pool."

Q: "Do you have a favorite pro soccer team or favorite soccer player?"

Maddy: "Rose Lavelle is my favorite player because not only is she a great role model to build my game around, she is from my hometown!"

Q: "And finally. You have to sum up your soccer career in one word. What would it be?"

Maddy: "I would say rigorous because I have worked really hard to get to where I am and could not be happier with the result!"
