Bills Trade Star Receiver Stefon Diggs to Texans

The Buffalo Bills are sending star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, a 2024 sixth-round pick, and a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Houston Texans for draft compensation. The draft compensation is a 2025 second-round pick (via the Minnesota Vikings).

Diggs has been with the Bills since 2020, and he has been one of the best receivers in the league during that time. In four seasons with the Bills, Diggs had 445 receptions, 5,372 receiving yards, and 37 receiving touchdowns. The 445 receptions are the most in the NFL over the last four seasons. Diggs beat out Davante Adams by four receptions.

We will take a look at this trade from both teams's perspectives.

Starting with the Buffalo Bills:

The Bills are only returning one of their top five wide receivers from last season. Stefon Diggs led them with 1,183 yards, Gabe Davis had 746 yards, Khalil Shakir had 611 yards, Deonte Harty had 150 yards, and Trent Sherfield had 86 yards. Diggs to the Texans, Davis to the Jaguars, Sherfield to the Vikings, and Harty is a free agent. I would have to imagine they will draft multiple receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Now a look at the Houston Texans:

The Texans add another piece for now second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud. This is another win-now move. The Texans added running back Joe Mixon from the Bengals last month and signed him to a three-year extension. Then return a solid group in Dalton Schultz, Nico Collins, and Tank Dell. From what we all watched last season, the Texans are scary with that group of players and now they add Diggs to the receiving room. Grab as much talent as you can while your star quarterback is still on his rookie contract.

The Texans will host the Bills next season so that will be a interesting game now.
