Brody DeLamielleure grounded  into a 6-3 out that advanced Dowd to third after a wild pitch from Moehler. Florida State scored the ensuing run after a bloop single from Hunter Carns to drop between Jason Fultz Jr. and Jack  Crighton. Moehler was able to recover, striking out Nathan Cmeyla to end the inning.

The bottom of the inning was a strike-out party for the Noles with Mendes striking out Nate  Savoie and Luke Gaffney in order. McCladdie nearly left the park after hitting a rocket to  left-center field for the third out.

Moehler continued to rock and roll in his second inning of work, striking out Gabe Fraser and Cal Fisher to go 1-2-3 for the first time in an inning since the Boston College series last weekend.

Mendes matched Moehler with his second inning, allowing only one hit to Jack Crighton and  striking out Purify, Lichtenberger, and Fultz Jr. to end the inning.

Clemson finally scored its first run of the game on a Jacob Jarrell single to left field to score  Bryce Clavon from third. Clavon stole two bases in the inning, grabbing second by a hand’s  length and third with ease. FSU’s lead cut to 4-1 going into the fourth.

Just when it looked like momentum was finally shifting Clemson’s way, Florida State added to  their damage, with Stuetzer leaving the park on a two-run bomb to increase the lead to 6-1.

Clemson got a run back in the boLom of the fourth after picking up back-to-back doubles, one from Purify and the other from Lichtenberger.

Landon Fowler relieved LeGuernic to help get an easy inning for the Tigers’ defense.

Jack Crighton added to his hit total for the day, scoring McCladdie from second base after  getting plucked on the knuckles three batters earlier. Fultz Jr. ended the inning after he popped into third base. Jacob Jarrell got the Tigers within three runs in the bottom of the seventh with a frozen rope to score Clavon.

Florida State scored once more aBer three scoreless innings, adding another run on a sacrifice fly from DeLamielleure in the top of the ninth. The inning was short-lived after Peyton Miller got  a 6-3 groundout from Hunter Carns.

The Tigers almost saw magic happen in the bottom of the ninth. With the bases loaded and two  outs, Tryston McCladdie stepped up to the plate. He took a 3-1 count to the absolute last strike  when he hit a deep lineout to centerfield to wrap up the game.

Despite losing 8-4, the Tigers found a spark at the end of the game that could create  momentum going into tomorrow’s game.
