3 things i loved: Cincinnati football against EKU

Cincinnati started off the season with a dominant performance against Eastern Kentucky, 66-13. Here are three things I loved to see in this game:

1. The confidence of Emory Jones:

I know it was only one game, but Emory Jones starred against the Colonels. His stat line looked like this: 19/23 for 345 passing yards and five passing touchdowns, with nine carries for 26 yards and two rushing touchdowns. This was the exact start the coaching staff wanted for Emory Jones’s first game as a Bearcat.

2. First win in the Big 12:

As I mentioned, it was only one game, and yes, it was against an FCS school. But putting up 66 points on anyone is really impressive. That marks down a successful debut win in a new conference for the Bearcats and Coach Satterfield.

3. Positive signs out of the wide receiver room:

After losing receivers like Tyler Scott and Tre Tucker to the NFL and players like Marcus Peterson, Quincy Burroughs, L’Christian Smith, Will Pauling, Nick Mardner, and a few more to the transfer portal. The additions of Xzavier Henderson, Braden Smith, and Dee Wiggins are looking solid so far. As those three combined for 12 receptions for 260 yards and three receiving touchdowns in the game against Eastern Kentucky.

It was the first game of the season, and it was a great first game for the Bearcats. That is what we were all hoping for. The Bearcats return to action at Pittsburgh at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
