USC transfer QB Malachi Nelson commits to Boise State

USC transfer quarterback Malachi Nelson has committed to Boise State. The former five-star recruit in the class of 2023 will become Boise State's highest-rated player in school history.

Malachi Nelson entered the transfer portal on December 18th. He only played in one game this season for the Trojans. He was the third-string quarterback, and he sat behind the former Heisman winner in Caleb Williams and redshirt sophomore Miller Moss.

USC head coach Lincoln Riley said it was "difficult" when Nelson entered his name into the transfer portal. It was difficult because Nelson was committed to Oklahoma before Riley took the USC job, and then Nelson followed him to USC.

That is just the life of the transfer portal for players and coaches. Now on the Boise State front. The Broncos had Taylen Green enter the transfer portal and commit to Arkansas.

That leaves Maddux Madsen as the only remaining quarterback who got meaningful snaps during the 2023 season. CJ Tiller did play some, but not anything close to Green and Madsen. The battle for QB1 will be between Maddux Madsen and Malachi Nelson.
