Transfers Daveren Rayner and Dylan Ray commit to Kentucky

Kentucky continues to fill positions of need as they landed Northern Illinois transfer linebacker Daveren Rayner and West Virginia transfer offensive lineman Dylan Ray on Saturday.

Ray redshirted his first season at West Virginia in 2021. He then saw limited action during the 2022 season.

Kentucky made additions that were necessary. The Wildcats needed offensive line help and they addressed that by adding Ben Christman, Courtland Ford, Tanner Bowles, Marques Cox, and now Dylan Ray.

Rayner leaves Northern Illinois after a career year with 71 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Rayner is the second Northern Illinois player to join the Wildcats as offensive lineman Marques Cox made the decision to join the Cats a few months ago.

Losing Deandre Square and Jacquez Jones at the linebacker position was never going to be easy to replace. But the Wildcats still have D’Eryk Jackson and Trevin Wallace for the inside of the linebacker core, but Rayner should have an important role.
