Top Five Cost Efficient Beers for Game Day: College Edition

We’ve all been there. The need for a brew with the absence of money in the wallet. Here, we present a list of beer that won’t burn a hole in your pocket for game day. If you are a college student, this list is a necessity.

5. Keystone Light

· ABV: 4.1%

· Price: Approximately $16 for a 30 rack

· Calories per 12 ounces: 101

Keystone comes in last on this list for a good reason. In no way is this beer enjoyable. However, it sports an efficient price for 30 beers.

4. Natty Light

· ABV: 4.2%

· Price: Approximately $16 for a 30 rack

· Calories per 12 ounces: 95

Again, not the most enjoyable beer ever. I would put it a notch above Keystone in drinkability, however. It beats Keystone slightly in alcohol content and calories while maintaining the same price. That’s enough to land this beer at #4 on this list.

3. Milwaukee’s Best Light

· ABV: 4.1%

· Price: Approximately $20 for a 30 rack

· Calories per 12 ounces: 98

This beer definitely ranks higher on the drinkability scale than the previous two. If you can spot the extra $4 or so dollars, it is worth it. Combine a small increase in price with a significant increase in drinkability, and Milwaukee’s Best Light finds itself at #3 on this list.

2. Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR)

· ABV: 4.8%

· Price: Approximately $16 for a 24 rack

· Calories per 12 ounces: 144

PBR probably sports the best drinkability on this list. It is not a light beer which accounts for the increase in calories. However, the best drinkability coupled with a 4.8% ABV and a reasonable price is enough for #2 on this list.

1. Busch Light Apple

· ABV: 4.1%

· Price: Approximately $16 for a 30 rack

· Calories per 12 ounces: 130

You can’t always have the best of both worlds, but Busch apple combines a great taste with a cost-efficient price. Keep in mind this is still a beer and does not come across as too sweet. The calories are a bit on the high side, but the price and taste will make you forget about that. Keep in mind this is a limited-edition beer, so buy them while they’re still in stock.

*Note: Busch Latte (Busch Light) is a solid replacement when Busch Light Apple cannot be found
