Logan Duncomb Paves the Way for Winthrop in Big South Awards

Rock Hill, S.C. – For the first time since the 2021-22 season, Winthrop brought home a Big South Player of the Year award winner.

Logan Duncomb, the senior center from Cincinnati, took the league by storm, averaging 18.4 points per game and nine rebounds per game. His offensive efficiency ranked fourth in the country and his 59.2 shooting percentage ranked 25th in Division I.

Duncomb is just the seventh Eagle to win the award since 1985, joining elite company including Fred McKinnon, Greg Lewis, Keon Johnson, Xavier Cooks, Chandler Vaudrin, and DJ Burns Jr. Six of the seven winners have won the award in the senior season.

Joining Duncomb in the awards column this year is Mark Prosser, who earned Co-Coach of the Year honors alongside High Point’s Flynn Clayman.

Prosser joins Pat Kelsey (2021), Randy Peele (2008, 2010), Gregg Marshall (1999, 2003, 2005), and Dan Kenney (1998) as the only Winthrop coaches to win the award.

The Eagles finished 21-10 this year with a 13-3 record in Big South play, including a signature 17-point home win over High Point. Prosser’s squad boasted 84.2 PPG (26th) and a offensive rating of 116.7 (59th). The Eagles averaged 9.7 three pointers per game (45th), 19.5 free throws per game (10th), 14.0 offensive rebounds per game (8th), 40.9 total rebounds per game (11th), and forced 22.3 fouls per game (1st).

Picked fifth in the preseason poll, Coach Prosser guided Winthrop to back-to-back 20+ win seasons and his third 20+ win season of his five-year tenure in Rock Hill. The Eagles finished second in the Big South standings, their highest seed for the Big South tournament since 2021-22.

The final award winner for Winthrop is Kody Clouet, the three-point sniper from San Marcos, California. The senior guard averaged 13.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 37.3% beyond the arc. Clouet won the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year award after clutching up on the court and in the classroom. He carries a 3.55 GPA while working towards his second undergraduate degree in business administration. Clouet also earned an Honorable Mention for All-Conference following his performance this season.

Kareem Rozier garnered Second-Team All-Conference recognition, averaging 13.3 points, 3.5 assists, 2.2 rebounds, and shooting 37.6% from three.

Winthrop’s strong team stats and individual awards show excellent growth. Curious how they’ll build on this momentum next season. https://codepython.online
