LSU has got what is looking like to be the best cornerback in the country. Mansoor Delane was the Bednarik Award National Player of the Week for his performance against Clemson in Week 1. He was the highest-graded SEC cornerback from Week 2 with an 82.3 grade via PFF.
Where did he come from before LSU?
He was a three-star recruit from Severn, Maryland, in the class of 2022. He held 18 offers and visited four schools, including Maryland, Minnesota, Illinois, and Virginia Tech. Delane ended up choosing Virginia Tech over the other three schools.
During his true freshman season with the Hokies. Delane ended up playing in eight games, including starting in four games. Delane earned honorable mention All-ACC honors.

During his second season with the Hokies. Delane started all 13 games during the 2023-24 season. Delane had many good games this season, including a seven-tackle performance in the Military Bowl win against Tulane and an eight-tackle and 1.5-tackle-for-loss performance against NC State.
During his third season with the Hokies. Delane started all 12 regular season games. Delane earned third-team All-ACC honors. Delane once again had multiple games, including a nine-tackle performance in a win against Boston College and an eight-tackle performance in a win against Georgia Tech.
Over his three seasons at Virginia Tech, he played in 33 games (started 29 games). Delane had 146 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, 16 pass breakups, and six interceptions.
Delane decided to enter the transfer portal, and he quickly decided to commit to the LSU Tigers. He was ranked as the 36th-ranked player and second-highest-rated cornerback in the transfer portal when he committed to the Tigers. He was an ideal fit and what the LSU coaching staff was looking for last offseason.
And now we are now caught up to this season. Delane has had a great start as a Tiger. In two games, he has four tackles, three passes defended, and an interception. LSU starts SEC play this weekend so things can change quickly but Mansoor Delane looks good so far.
