There is a lot of movement in the Heisman rankings after Kenneth Walker's poor performance against Ohio State. Along with Walker's bad outing came a great performance in the same game from Ohio State QB CJ Stroud. These five players have one to two more games to impress the voters and win the most prestigious individual prize in college football.
1. Bryce Young (QB, Alabama) ⬆️1
Bryce Young has been nothing short of amazing this season. He throws a very accurate ball and has been consistent for Bama in a year where the Tide defense hasn't always been stifling. Young threw for 559 yards & 5 touchdowns against a good Arkansas defense en route to claiming the SEC West once again. He will have a chance to really prove himself in the SEC Championship Game against Georgia’s elite defense.
2. CJ Stroud (QB, Ohio State) ⬆️2
CJ Stroud took advantage of a poor Michigan State secondary by lighting them up for 432 yards & 6 touchdowns. He also had a 91% completion percentage. Stroud does have great weapons around him including future draft picks Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Jaxon Smith-Njigba & Jeremy Ruckert. We’ll see what he does this week against a great Michigan pass rush.
3. Kenneth Walker III (RB, Michigan State) ⬇️2
Kenneth Walker III drops from the top spot after his 25 rushing yard performance on 6 carries against Ohio State. Walker did not get as many touches as he should’ve though thanks to a lackluster offensive line performance. Walker needs a really big game against Penn State to put himself back in the Heisman conversation.
4. Kenny Pickett (QB, Pitt) ⬇️1
Kenny Pickett has been great for Pitt this season. He has led them to an ACC Championship Game appearance and could be the first quarterback taken overall in the NFL Draft. Pickett has been a bit prone to interceptions in the last few games, throwing 5 picks in the last 4 games. These next two games will determine if Pickett will be a Heisman finalist. Syracuse should provide ample opportunity for Pickett but he will no doubt be tested by the Atlantic representative.
5. Matt Corral (QB, Ole Miss) ⬆️1
Matt Corral is back in the top 5 after being out for a few weeks. Corral is no doubt one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the nation. Along with Pickett, he will be one of the top quarterbacks taken in the NFL Draft. Corral still has the Egg Bowl to prove himself if he wants to be a Heisman finalist and with a big performance can likely leapfrog a few of the contenders above him.
