UAB and Samford have a little history. Samford stomped UAB back in 1992 in its only matchup. This was the early days of UAB football. There’s been a lot happen in between. We’ve died and been resurrected, Roddy White came through, and Bill Clark put us into the world of relevancy. Things wouldn’t be the same this time.

Friday night, the Blazers welcome our highly respected Naval Academy to Birmingham. We’ve all seen the numbers, and we know what it’s been like the last few years when the military school plays UAB. It’s not fun, just a steady grind of running the football down our throat. We’ve played Navy 3 times in our history, and 3 times they beat us badly in all those matchups. That was Dilfer’s teams, though, right? This team is different.

Offensively, I don’t know what happened. Was it poor blocking… poor play calling, or just lack of effort? Hard to say. I do know they shut our run game down, and when the first half ended, we were nonexistent on that side of the ball. We watched it, we all saw it, there’s not really much to say here other than they lined up and whipped our tail.
